Mean income (average) is the amount obtained by dividing the total aggregate income of a group by the number of units in that group.

Mean equivalised net income: The total income (including social transfers) of a household, after tax and other deductions, that is available for spending or saving, divided by the number of household members converted into equalised adults.

Household members are equalised or made equivalent by weighting each according to their age, using the so-called modified OECD equivalence scale.

The currency is converted from national currency to euro in Purching Power Standards (PPS), which eliminates the impact of differences in price levels among the Nordic countries.
